Their VisionPhill and Maria wanted to renovate their bathroom in a style that would stay sympathetic to their new homes mid-century heritage whilst giving them all the benefits of a modern refit.
Unusually, they chose to KEEP their retro Avocado bathroom suite, something that we were more than happy to run with. We suggested complimenting this green colour with a muted palette of blacks, whites and greys for the wall and floor tiles. Phill and Maria also wanted to upgrade the aging electric shower system, here we were able to help SAVE them money by utilising the power of their modern combi-boiler to do away with the need for an extra unit. We also went out of our way to find the right kind of fixtures and hardware that would speak to the concept of "modern-but-retro" without looking out of place or tacked on. Finally, we were able to advise on the shades of soft goods, such as shower curtains and blinds, that would create small, bright "pops" of colour to help create a balanced and harmonious room. |
Unique Design ChallengesOne of the more challenging aspects of this re-fit was the size of the bath itself, in comparison to the space in which it sits. The original 1955 solution was to simply have the tiles slope out at either end of the bath to fill the space, however, this wasn't a clean look that the client would be happy with.

Tom and his team did a brilliant job with our bathroom. We had some vintage features we wanted to preserve and Nendick Services were VERY accommodating to our unusual brief .
